Goaso (B/A) Feb. 10 GNA - Dr Obed Asamoah, National Chairman of National Democratic Congress, has expressed optimism that the party would regain power at the 2004 polls.

He said the party's current structures and the failure of the NPP Government to deliver on its promises would make it easy for NDC to take back power.

The National Chairman was speaking at an NDC rally at Goaso in Asunafo District of Brong Ahafo during the weekend.

The rally was part of Dr Asamoah's tour of the Western and Brong Ahafo Regions to meet members of the party in constituencies where the party did not perform well at the 2000 elections.

He blamed the poor performance of the party on the imposition of sitting MPs on the electorate and said the party had since learnt its lessons.

Dr Asamoah accused the government of turning round to erode the little economic gains made with its unpopular high taxation and called for its immediate removal to make life better for the ordinary Ghanaian. He pledged improved standard of living and a boom in Ghana's macro and micro economy under the next NDC government.

The MP for Fanteakwa and National Organizer of the party, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, called on members to register when the voters' register is re-opened in March to enable them to exercise their franchise in December.
