A communications team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Mawuli Nenegbe, has strongly expressed optimism of victory in the upcoming by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
According to him, the constituency deserves development and the only candidate who can provide that for the constituents, is the NDC parliamentary candidate, Delali Brempong.
Appearing on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he said, the late Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, did what he could but the NDC candidate who is also a medical practitioner and pharmacist, will do his best.
Brempong was the party’s parliamentary candidate in the 2016 election.
He lost to the late Mr Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, whose death has necessitated a by-election scheduled for January 31, 2019.
Mawuli Nanegbe said the decision by the party to elect Mr Brempong was on the premise that he had been marketed already and stand the chance of winning the election hands down.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong the candidate if elected would advance the course of women and the youth in the area, improve security which has worsened under the current administration especially in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
He called on the constituents of the constituency to vote massively for the NDC candidate so he will advance their course in parliament.
“We are going to win the seat hands down. We have an eye on that seat and so we are making amends to win the election. The candidate has contested and lost in 2016 but he has been marketed and will win. I will appeal to the constituents to vote massively for him because we need change and development.”
However, a communicator with the NPP Oliver Ofori Baah, has laughed off the position of the NDC saying it is only a wishful thinking and will never materialise.
The NDC he said has a bad electoral record in the constituency and should forget about the seat.
