Accra, Oct. 15, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday urged all Muslims to take inspiration from the prayers of Ramadan to uphold truthfulness and honesty in public life.

A statement issued and signed by Dr Josiah Aryeh, NDC's General Secretary; said, "the NDC joins our Muslim brothers in the process of recommitment and wish them resolve and steadfastness. It is our prayer that Allah gives every Muslim the faith, strength and endurance to undergo this religious exercise".

The statement said this year's Ramadan is of special importance to the whole country in view of the upcoming Election 2004.

"The month of Ramadan is probably the most important month in the Islamic calendar of Muslims. It is a period in which Muslims deny themselves worldly pleasures and recommit themselves to the Islam faith. The NDC hopes the goodwill and blessing of Ramadan would be used by all Muslims to pray for peace before, during and after the elections. It said: "May the Almighty Allah bless all Ghanaians during this holy period of Ramadan."
