A former Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has revealed embattled Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi would have been in jail by now if the opposition National Democratic Congress had won the 2016 elections.

According to the law maker, Nyantakyi’s resignation will not be enough to solve the corrupt practices at the federation, adding a well-orchestrated plan had been designed by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to pick up the football icon had Mahama win power.

“We need to take the most drastic decisions to save our football, Nigeria did it and today they are reaping the benefits. If NDC had won the elections, if Nyantakyi and his people had not deceived Ghanaians to vote for the NPP and had voted for the NDC, we would have taken a very serious action which would have incurred the wrath of FIFA and Ghana would have been better anyway and we would have done the same thing Anas is doing today.

“A dossier of documents incriminating Mr. Nyantakyi had been gathered and we were going to deal with him on a criminal level and we would have dealt with him if we had won elections,” the former sports broadcaster remarked.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Starr News‘ Parliamentary correspondent, Ibrahim Alhassan, Mr. Vanderpuye said after watching the investigative piece shown at the Conference Centre where several high profile officials of the Ghana FA including Nyantakyi were seen taking bribes, is enough impetus to take drastic action.

“After watching the expose’, I wasn’t surprised about what I saw and will never be surprised, I was expecting it and I was expecting more than what I saw and I will plead with Anas to do more but with he little that I have seen is enough impetus to take drastic action”.

According to the Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nyantakyi made it impossible for past sports ministers to carry out what was expected of them due to his mafioso attitude.

Mr. Vanderpuye added that the attitude of government towards the investigative piece will restore confidence of Ghanaians.
