NDP Invades NDC Strongholds

THE NATIONAL Democratic Party (NDP) has begun serious campaigning in the three Northern regions considered as strongholds of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the December polls.

The newly formed NDP which promises to give the NDC a run for its money, over last week toured a number of constituencies in the region and paid courtesy calls on some traditional rulers.

Led by its interim General Secretary, Dr. Joseph Manboah-Rockson, the NDP also commissioned a number of constituency offices and swore-in executives who have since swung into action.

The NDP leadership also called on the Regent of Dagbon Kampakuya, Naa Abdulai Andani Yakubu where the party’s t-shirt was presented to him to announce their presence in the region.

The first leg of the tour dubbed “Operation Capture the Three Northern Regions” was aimed ensuring that the party emerged victorious in the forthcoming elections in the North, according to its leadership.

It was for this reason they visited the regent to solicit his guidance and prayers for victory.

According to Dr. Manboah-Rockson, the NDP was determined to give Ghanaians the best of leadership should it emerge winner at the polls.

On his part, the regent thanked them for their recognition of the traditional authority and urged them to go about their campaigns devoid of hate-speech and personal attacks that had the tendency of sparking violence in the region.

He wished the party well in all its endeavors underscoring the need for development should it emerge victorious.

Later the NDP leadership including Viel Godsennor visited chiefs in Gushiegu, Karaga and major traditional towns in the region to solicit their support and took the opportunity to introduce constituency executives to party supporters.

The team has since left for the Upper West region where it would interact with traditional rulers, opinion leaders and party supporters, according to NDP regional youth leader, Papa Yawson.
