The Electoral Commission has given the National Democratic Party (NDP) license to operate as a fully fledged political party in Ghana.

The EC had earlier given the party a provisional certificate which sought to give them the recognition as a political party and also to enable them start operations.

Dr. Josiah Aryee, the Interim National Chairman of the NDP, who received the certificate on behalf of the party on Friday, stated that their operations in Ghana will bring a massive revolution in the political terrain of Ghana.

He emphasized, “There has just occurred a very momentous event that will have significant consequences for this country; for the politics of this country will from today be reconfigured, reshuffled and realigned” following the arrival of the NDP.

He said the party has just taken the first step on a long road where with the will of the people the only destination will be victory, “from today the iconic white dove on the NDP is air born”.

In an interview with an Accra based radio station, Dr. Aryee said the party was preparing for its launch and congress to confirm people in interim positions into substantive roles “We will also put processes in place to have our candidates for both Presidential and Parliamentary” He said.

He however dismissed suggestions that the Rawlingses were behind the party stating, “not to date and as I speak, they are not behind us but I have always stressed and said that of course, they are free like anyone to join us if they wish. “

Meanwhile, the interim General Secretary of the NDP, Manboah Rockson speaking on the same station revealed, “the grassroots of the party are calling for Nana Konadu to be the flagbearer and the party leadership is planning to invite her for the position”.

You would recall that Manboah Rockson, interim General Secretary of the NDP, a few days ago, granted an interview on another radio station where he revealed that Nana Konadu was among three persons seeking the mandate to lead the party into the December elections.
