The newly founded National Democratic Party (NDP) for the first time appears to be retreating on their call for former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to be the flagbearer of the party in the December polls.

The party has openly flaunted their association with the former first lady and indicated the possibility of her leading the party in the upcoming elections.

The General Secretary of the NDP in a recent interview with XYZ News stated that Mrs. Rawlings will accept to be the party’s flagbearer by end of this week.

But speaking to XYZ News on Monday, the interim chairman of the party, Dr. Josiah Aryeh said the NDP can’t wait for Mrs. Rawlings any longer.

“We are not focusing on any particular individual or are we stampeding or prompting that person or waiting upon anybody, we have declared it and if anybody is interested that person should come forward” Dr. Josiah Aryeh said.

He added that “Mrs. Rawlings is still a member of the NDC and hasn’t resigned yet and she was minded that before she should run on our ticket she must resign from the NDC.

“So until you hear such resignation, anything that you say would be premature”.
