Accra, March 16, GNA - Orphanage Africa (OA), an NGO in collaboration with the French Navy have supplied a new water storage tank, valued at 20 million cedis to the Osu Children's Home in Accra. The 3200-litre capacity storage tank, which took three days to build, is to provide adequate water for the nutrition centre at the orphanage.

Fifteen French naval personnel, whose ship arrived at the Tema Port last Thursday was approached by the NGO and they offered to do the plumbing works and to install the tank free-of-charge for the home. The personnel also cleaned the orphanage's garden, painted fences and repaired the children's games equipment.

Speaking at the function, Ms Teri Huet, Director of OA, Ghana, said the objective of the NGO was to bring hope to the children, who through no fault of theirs found themselves in such a situation. She said the NGO also provided holistic healthcare, nutrition, hygiene and education in orphanages across Africa.

Mr Olivier Pons, Captain of the French Naval team said the project was a good way for the volunteers to have a friendly contact with orphans as well as to share in their experiences.

Mrs. Millicent Nyarko, Assistant Supervisor of the Home commended both the NGO and the French Navy for their support to the home. She called on other philanthropists in the country to emulate the two organisations and come to the aid of the home.
