Ho, March 23, GNA - Samuel Seshie, 28, a painter and Executive Director of Christian Community Development Association (CCDA), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Adaklu-Kodzobi near Ho, was remanded by a Ho Circuit court on Tuesday for stealing 1,200 dollars belonging to Miss Elizabeth Barrickrow, an American.
He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on the March 29. Chief Inspector Victus Agadzi, prosecuting, told the Ho Circuit Court 'A' that Seshie posted an advertisement on the Internet stating the NGO's objectives and this compelled Miss Barrickrow to assist in the women empowerment aspect of the organisation's objectives.
He said on her arrival in the country early this year, Miss Barrickrow paid 300 dollars to Seshie out of 1,500 dollars quoted by him as the cost of her accommodation and up-keep and later issued a cheque for 1,200 dollars to some banks in Ho to make up the balance but the cheque could not go through.
Chief Inspector Agadzi said Miss Barrickrow left the cheque with Seshie but found out from her statement on the Internet on February 11 that Seshie had cashed the amount using his signature and name. Miss Barrickrow alerted the police who arrested Seshie.
