NGO donates type writers to Royal Secretariat in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga (U/E), Aug. 10, GNA – Tehisuma Orphans, Widows and Youth Association (TOWYA), a Non Governmental Organisation, has presented twenty two electrical and manual type writers to the Royal Secretariat in Bolgatanga.

Mr Adam Alhassan, Executive Director of TOWYA, said it was the intension of the NGO to assist in improving educational standards by providing school structures, teaching materials and to support widows and orphans in the north.

Mr Alhassan, a musician, who resides in Finland, said the donation was a way of improving secretarial education among young people who could not continue their education to the senior high school level.

He said TOWYA planned to promote cultural exchanges as a way of attracting more investment to the country and appealed to all the beneficiaries of the donation to put them to good use.

Mr Bernard Bennanzi, Upper East Regional Director of Social Welfare, thanked TOWYA for assisting the less privileged and complementing efforts of government.

He advised the school to keep a good maintenance culture and ensure that more students benefit from the equipment.

He also urged the students to study well to become role models for other young ones to emulate.

Mr Clement Adongo, headmaster of the school, thanked TOWYA for the gesture and called on other philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.

He said the school had turned out many students who were working in many establishments as secretaries adding that the current enrolment stood at 181 with only two males.
