NGO gives to Effiduase hospital

Effiduase (Ash), June 7, GNA - The Ellen G. White Virgins Club, a local Non-Governmental-Organisation (NGO) at Effiduase in the Sekyere East district has donated food items and clothes to the Effiduase district hospital.

The donation formed part of the activities marking this year's International Day of Action for Women's Health, organised by the club and the Amsterdam-based Women's Global Network for Reproductive Rights at Effiduase and Asokore at the weekend.

The occasion was also used to launch a house-to-house visitation to sensitise women on reproductive health, especially on HIV/AIDS. Presenting the items, Pastor Stephen Anokye, the director of the club, commended the government on its efforts to improve the health of the people and the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He, however, appealed to the government to provide free medical care for pregnant women in order to reduce maternal deaths in the country.

Dr Samuel Amanama, the medical officer in-charge of the hospital, thanked the club for the items and commended members on their efforts to fight the HIV/AIDS in the district.

He appealed to members of the club not to relent in their efforts and continue to work hard to reduce the spread of the disease in the area.
