NGO initiates project to train the youth in agriculture

Abrakaso (Ash), June 20, GNA - Self-Help International (SHI), a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) has in collaboration with Embik Farms of Embik Holdings Limited, initiated a project under which the youth would be trained in rabbit rearing and vegetable production free of charge.

Alhaji Seidu Chibsah, Chief Executive Officer of the Embik Farms, who announced this, said the project, which would be located at Abrakaso near Agona in the Afigya-Sekyere District is designed to offer a month training to the project beneficiaries.

Alhaji Chibsah, who is also the Chief of the Old-Tafo Zongo in Kumasi, announced this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Abrakaso said the trainees would be given the resources to put their skills into practice.

He said his organisation was liasing with the district assemblies, traditional authorities and opinion leaders to identify the trainees who would also be exposed to the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS.

Mr Abu Seidu, Director of SHI, said the project would woo the beneficiaries from anti-social activities.
