The Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana is upbeat about the payment of arrears to its members in the coming days as the President delivers the State of the Nation Address(SoNA) today.
Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, President of the Association, Samuel Boakye Donkor said government must consider to make some payments or give timelines to effect payment of the arrears soon.
The dire situation, according to the Association is having a negative impact on health care delivery and operations of their health facilities.
Following his 4th State of the Nation Address as he heads into another election in December, Mr. Donkor warned that should the President disregard settlement of its indebtedness to their members it will revert to cash and carry system by March, 01, 2020.
“We’ll be monitoring proceedings on Television to see if the President will announce anything about the payments. I’m inundated with calls on daily basis about payment from facilities, but we believe something good will come out from today’s State of the Nation Address.There is serious financial burden on us, and we understand that the government cannot clear the huge indebtedness. But there should be some payments before the March, 01 deadline, else we revert to the cash and carry system. The situation is collapsing us and the President needs to act.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today Thursday, February 20, 2020 deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address in Parliament, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
President Akufo-Addo is expected to itemize sector by sector the general health of the country and outline policies and programmes to facilitate the country’s socio-economic development in his second State of the Nation Address.
The sectors to be covered in the address will include health, agriculture, education and energy among others.
