NLA supports government to construct military sports complex in Tamale

The historic collaborative agreement signed between the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Veterans Administration, Ghana has started producing positive and healthy results towards the socio-economic development and financial empowerment of veterans and soldiers.

The Ministry of Defense together with Vice President and Director-General of National Lottery Authority (NLA) cut the sod for the commencement of the construction of a Military Sports Complex in Tamale, Northern Region of Ghana.

The Sports Complex is partly financed by the National Lottery Authority (NLA) as a result of collaborative agreement between the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG).

The National Lottery Authority under Kofi Osei-Ameyaw has shown serious commitment to the empowerment of veterans and soldiers.

An Ambulance was also donated to the soldiers and veterans in Tamale as part of efforts to contribute to the quality healthcare delivery system.

The NLA, having taken over VAG has shown unwavering support to the veterans including:

1. The initial payment of GHS 120, 000 by NLA to VAG and additional payment of GHS 100, 000 as part of NLA's Corporate Social Responsibility to the Veterans.

2. A monthly cash payment of GHS 120, 000 by NLA to VAG for the upkeep of retired soldiers and veterans.

3. The provision of vehicles by NLA to VAG for the effective and efficient running of VAG.

Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony on Friday, 3rd May, 2019, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw reassured VAG and the Ministry of Defense that, the NLA under NPP Government will continue to provide support to retired soldiers and veterans in the areas of quality healthcare delivery, infrastructure and accommodation in line with the vision of President Akufo-Addo.
