The National Media Commission (NMC) has, in a ruling, ordered two media firms to issue a retraction and an apology to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Adamus Resources Limited, Angela List, regarding a publication made against her.

The ruling follows a complaint the commission said it had received from the complainant, Angela List, about a publication concerning her, which she described as “misleading and damaging.”

According to the Executive Secretary of the NMC, George Sarpong, the two media firms, ModernGhana.com and Class FM, failed to reach out to the complainant for verification before publishing the story, thereby breaching the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Code of Ethics.

“The Respondents breached fundamental journalistic ethics by failing to verify information before publication, contrary to Articles 4 and 5 of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Code of Ethics, 2017,” portions of a statement dated November 27, 2025, read.

The statement also noted that despite removing the initial publications against Angela List when prompted, the two media firms continued to publish related content on their platforms.

On the back of that, the NMC also ruled that in addition to the retraction and apology, the two platforms must remove all publications concerning the complainant.

The apology is also to be published, with all actions to be completed within seven days of the issuance of the ruling.

“ModernGhana.com and Class FM must retract and/or remove all publications concerning the Complainants that were issued without verification. Any retraction must receive the same prominence as the original publication.

“Both media outlets must publish a formal apology to the Complainants. All retractions, removals, and apologies must be completed within seven (7) days of this press release,” it noted.

The NMC underscored that adherence to ethical standards is essential for strengthening both media practice and corporate engagement in Ghana.
