Their call on God for divine intervention in the 2018 National Maths and Science Quiz eventually yielded results as they sailed through the challenges and stiff competition to beat all their competitors to win the enviable medal.

The ‘humble’ boys of St Peters Senior High (PERSCO) won the trophy for the third time since 2005.

Kissi Annor Kwaku, one of the contestants who represented the Nkwatia ‘boy’s school in a piece captured by the BBC, recounts his journey to success.

The video captures the ‘before’s’, ‘durings’ and ‘afters’ of their journey, detailing the hurdles, fears, opposition and trials they had to overcome for the ultimate prize.

“The Science and Maths quiz has a lot in it for students who really want to improve their abilities, it has so many lessons to teach you about composure, about how you approach people, about so many things and I think it is a great learning opportunity for anybody….you just need to be consistent”, he stated.

The Nkwatia-based school emerged winner after thrashing West Africa Senior High School (WASS) with just a single point. At the end of the final round, St Peter’s had 45 points, WASS 44 points while Adisadel College placed third with 39 points.

A proud Annor Kwaku, describing his excitement about the win said;

“I’ve been able to accomplish for my school something that hasn’t been done in a long time, not only me but the whole team. I feel relieved of all the stress and everything we went through, I feel very excited and I feel like we’ve been able to put our school out there, we’ve been able to regain what St. Peters had. I feel that it’s a blessing for all of us”.
