NPA pens technical cooperation agreement with Korea Petroleum

National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has signed a technical cooperation agreement with K-Petro of South Korea in the field of fuel quality and distribution management systems.

The agreement which was signed on Jan 28, 2020 forms part of NPA’s bid to ensure petroleum products consumed by the public are of the highest quality.

The Chief Executive Officer of NPA Hassan Tampuli and Deputy Minister of Energy Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, signed on behalf of the Authority.

Over the period, the NPA boss, Hassan Tampuli has raised concerns about the need to improve the petroleum quality and distribution systems which is critical to the operations of the downstream sector.

The cooperation between the two parties means an opportunity to share technical expertise, improve ongoing fuel marking and testing systems.

The K-Petro delegation visited Ghana last year to explore partnership opportunities with the NPA and the chief executive of K-Petro Son Joo-Suk, expressed optimism that the partnership will inure to the benefit of the consumer.

Ghana’s Deputy Head of Mission, Dr. Joseph Agoe also witnessed the signing ceremony.

Other members on the team included Mr. Simeon Tawiah, Member of the NPA Governing Board, Hawa Ajei, Director of Legal and Mr. Theophilus Mohenu, Director of Quality Assurance.
