Binduri, Oct 05, GNA - Alhaji Amadi Seidu, a 48-year-old farmer, secured the Binduri Constituency chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a keenly contested delegates' conference held to elect party executives at Binduri, near Bawku on Saturday.
He secured 36 votes whilst his opponent, Ayunga Yakubu had 34 with three of the ballot papers declared void out of the 73 valid votes. For the secretary position, Amadu Fuseini defeated Alhassan Ali by 50 to 23 votes, whilst Oli Agbango defeated Adamu Bukari by 51 to 21 votes to become the Youth Organiser.
In the other contested positions, a 42-year-old teacher, Alhassan Bugri, had 44 votes to beat two other contestants, Moses Azongbilla, 22 votes and Ayuma Musah, 7 votes to become the Organiser. Other winners were Awini Akundago, First Vice Chairman, Kofi Bawa Second Vice Chairman, Azuma Emmanuel Assistant Secretary, Adamu Amadi, Treasurer and Hawa Fuseini, Women's Organiser. They were all elected unopposed.
Mr Edwin Enchor, the Regional Treasurer, advised the executives to redouble their efforts for the party to gain popularity among the people in the area in order for the party to capture the seat in the next elections.
In Garu/Tempane constituency, George Ayaaba defeated the incumbent chairman, Inusah Awini by 60 votes to 26 to become the chairman. Mr Enoch Sa-ambo and Paul Abugre retained their positions as Secretary and Organiser respectively. 05 Oct 05
