Bolgatanga, April 24, GNA - Mr Gabriel Asana Abugre, Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has advised the 24 aspirants as NPP members of Parliament for the 13 constituencies in the region to ensure a peaceful exercise.

Mr Abugre gave the advice when he addressed the aspirants, constituency chairmen and secretaries at Bolgatanga at the weekend in preparation for the party's primaries scheduled for April 29 to 30. "You must place the party interest above your interests. The ultimate objective of the party is to win more seats in the region and to capture political power in 2012," Mr Abugre said. He advised the aspirants who may lose the election not to give up since it would serve as a way of marketing themselves for future political positions.

He said; 93The party would even acknowledge the fact that you contributed to it by paying the filing fees".

Mr Abugre called on the victors to embrace the losers to enable them to support them in their campaign for the parliamentary election. Three out of the 24 aspirants are women and they include Mrs Agnes Chigabatia, former Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, for Builsa North Constituency, Mrs Diana Aburiya Asuure, a lecturer at the Bolgatanga Polytechnic, for Bongo Constituency, and Paulina Morton for the Builsa South Cosntituency.
