The Minority Caucus in parliament has by consensus agreed to support all proposed amendments to the constitution of the New Patriotic Party.

The Minority leader in parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu said this at a speech he delivered at the National Delegates conference being held at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre.

"My fellow Members of Parliament on the minority side have by consensus agreed to support the proposed amendments of the party's constitution and we see this as the way forward for future of this party if we are to re-capture power in 2012," he said. This statement was followed by a rapturous applause from all delegates present signalling their intent to ratify all proposed amendments to the constitution. The Hon. Minority Leader in his speech also pointed out some achievements of the NPP whilst in office under the leadership of the former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Under the NPP's eight year rule, the economic situation of the country was reversed from the decline it had suffered under the rule of the P(NDC). All economic indicators he pointed out had shown that the NPP was moving this country in the right direction.

This he said was is in sharp contrast to the worsening economic plight being meted out to Ghanaians by the administration of the Prof. Mills led NDC government.

In all 42 proposed amendments to the constitution of the NPP are to be considered by delegates of the party including the proposed expansion of the Electoral College for the selection of Constituency, Regional and National executives and as well as that for the selection of a Presidential Candidate for the 2012 general elections.
