Accra The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended condolences to the Ghana Army and the family of Squadron Leader Dwamena Bekoe, an air force pilot who died when his jet crashed while on national duty. "This is indeed a great loss not only to our Armed Forces, but also to the country as a whole", a statement signed in Accra by Mr Adu Kwabena-Essem, NPP Press Secretary, said. It said the sadness of the pilot's death is deepened by the fact that he did not pass away peacefully in bed nor in the hot exchanges of war. The statement said the loss of such a young officer and the fact that his death "is an anathema to most people the world over who regard it as unnatural, must touch every Ghanaian".
