NPP Decides: How supporters celebrated candidates who triumphed

Some supporters of various New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries aspirants who either won for the first time or maintained their positions took to several ways to celebrate the victory of their favorites.

They have moved from the usual sprinkling of powder on the body of the winners to new ways of expressing their excitement.

Elated about the fact that ‘their pick’ will contest in the upcoming December 7, 2020 polls, some jubilated as though their lives were dependant on it.

But for the timely intervention of the security personnel in some constituencies, the excitement and jubilation could have metamorphosed to acts of lawlessness with serious consequences.

Let's take a look at some constituencies and how they celebrated their winning candidates

Supporters of Farouk Mahama at Yendi Constituency

After battling it out with two other aspirants, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama and Alhaji Baba Dani Farouk Mahama emerged victoriously.

Supporters of the late former Vice President’s son could not hide their joy as they drove carelessly through a crowd on motorbikes along the streets.

It took the timely intervention of the military presence to disperse and maintain law and order among these people.

Supporters of Adwoa Safo

At the Dome-Kwabenya constituency which saw a close contest between Mike Ocquaye Jnr and the incumbent Safo Adwoa Safo, supporters of the later were jubilant even before results were announced.

Some supporters rallied together and chanted songs to their excitement even before Adwoa Safo was declared the winner.

Yaw Buabeng Asamoa’s supporters

It was a great victory to supporters of the incumbent MP for Adentan constituency as they mobbed and chanted victory songs to cheer him on. Supporters of Buabeng Asamoah could not hide their joy as they gathered at the premises of the coalition center after results declared to celebrate their candidate who has maintained his seat.

Carlos Ahenkorah’s supporters

Supporters of the Tema West NPP parliamentary candidate continually chanted “four more for Nana” and they vigorously danced to victory.

Carlos Ahenkorah beat two competitors, who throughout the build-up to the election, were seen by pundits as candidates who did not stand a dog’s chance against the sitting MP cum Deputy Minister of Trade.
