NPP Decides: I'll win by over 70 percent - Hajia Abibata Mahama

One of three MP aspirants of the Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama has expressed optimism over results of the elections.

She indicated that she was certain that the constituents who have seen and acknowledged her works in the region will upvote her to represent them in the elections in December.

“I know I have worked very hard for the party and am very credible, and with all the good works that I have done, I know that the delegates are going to vote for development and credibility," Abibata Mahama noted.

She is highly contested by Umar Farouk Mahama, who is the number one on the ballot paper and the son of the late Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.

Another candidate for the parliamentary seat is Baba Osman Daney.

The elections were delayed by a couple of hours after rains began to pour.

As it stands now, the polls have been closed as the parliamentary candidates await counting to be carried out.



NPP delegates are voting to elect parliamentary candidates for 168 constituencies.

This exercise is the second phase after the first phase of the primaries came off in September 2019 in constituencies with no sitting Members of Parliament.

A total of 374 aspirants are contesting in the 168 constituencies. Out of the 374 persons, 325 are men while 51 are women.
