...`Refrain from corruption, dissipation & misapplication of state funds`
…`Or party goes into wilderness again`

THE GOLDEN age of bribery and corruption, unwanted dissipation and misapplication of state funds as well as misappropriation of state resources by the current administration, has incurred the displeasure of the most high God, sending strong signals to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to refrain from the practices or goes into wilderness again.

According to Prophet District of Ashanti Region, a prophecy received from God indicates that the NPP would definitely lose the 2008 general elections if its leadership fails to listen to the cry from the grassroots.

“The message is loud and clear, if NPP does not continue with its God-given programme and there is a change in government, the next government will breed hatred to the extend that many lives will be lost”, the Prophet noted.

The Man of God said the NPP “is likely to lose the 2008 elections partly because of “President Kufuor’s passive style of governance, looking on in askance as some government appointees engage in misdeeds.”

In a statement issued in Kumasi, Evangelist Sarfo wished that the NPP government would bury its pride and deal decisively with the supposed directives from the Almighty God as instructed for President Kufuor to leave office in peace.

He quoted Proverbs 10:11-13, which says: “It is only the good Lord that knows the future. God dislikes pride.”

The latest findings on corruption by Transparency International placed Ghana at the 70th position in a league of 163 countries worldwide, scoring 3.3 out of a clean score of 10.

Ghana’s ranking is based on data from six out of 12 surveys conducted by institutions like World Bank in its 2005 report, Economic Intelligence Unit’s report in 2006, Merchant Intelligence Group report of 2006 and UN Economic Commission for Africa report 2006 as well as World Economic Forum report of 2005 and World Market Research 2006.

This year’s 3.3 score is the same as those obtained in 1999 and 2003, making the nation trailing behind Mauritius and Botswana on the corruption ladder.

According to the Evangelist Prophet, “the NPP government is seriously warned to refrain from vices like bribery and corruption, unwanted dissipation and misapplication of state funds, and misappropriation of state resources.”

About Ghanaians, the Prophet indicated that they should not be complacent and boasted of the peace prevailing in the country as their own achievement, and added that Ghanaians should stand firm because, “there are days of reckoning after 2008 general elections between the months of April and June, 2009.”
