Members of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the German state of Nord Rhein Westphalia have elected new executives to run the affairs of the Party for the next four years. The keenly contested elections in the most populous state and with the largest Ghanaian community in Germany was characterised by civility and respect among the contestants.

Mr Alhassan Yakubu Talli an Investment Banker was elected chairman with Mr Rexford Oduro Boadi and Mr Kofi Okofo Darteh as first and second vice chairmen respectively. The position of Secretary went to Mr Charles Ankamah while Mr Emmanuel Berko was elected the organiser of the Party.

Mrs Marian Boahen won the position of the Women Organiser and would be Assisted by Mrs Esther Mensah. Mr Annor Poku won the position of the Treasurer and Mr Kwame Asante was elected to the position of the Youth Organiser. Mr Kwaku Anane was elected to take charge of the Party’s communication/Public Relations with Mr Peter Kofi Botchway as the Assistant.

In a short but impressive speech, Mr Alhassan Yakubu Talli, Chairman-elect thanked members of the Party for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work in collaboration with all the members for the good of the party.

According to him his first priority is to embark on an intensive membership drive campaign with the view to attracting many more people into the party and also raise funds for the 2012 elections in Ghana.

Mr Alhassan Talli noted that Ghanaians are looking up to the NPP to rescue from the current unbearable situation in which they find themselves as a result of the failed and discredited policies of the NDC government.

He stated that the better Ghana Agenda promised by the NDC has turned to a ‘bitter’ Ghana as evidenced by the rising cost including Public Utilities, rule of law has been replaced with the rule of the mob where the so called foot soldiers dictate and direct government policy and action.

Mr Alhassan Talli pointed out that the record of the NDC government in the past two years has been a catalogue of broken promises with which Ghanaians are not prepared to live beyond 2012. It is therefore incumbent upon the NPP to rise up to this challenge and respond to the cries, hopes and aspiration of Ghanaians.

Signed
