SUPPORTERS OF the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Brong Ahafo region have ended a three-day hunger strike following the release of embattled Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong who was detained by police without trial for over 48 hours.

The NPP is scheduled to throw a big party for all members and sympathizers who joined the strike in Sunyani today to celebrate his release.

The Assin North MP gained his freedom Thursday after spending over 72 hours in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) when an Accra Human Rights Court granted him bail.

He was arrested Monday and charged with three counts of treason, treason felony and attempted genocide.

He was alleged to have declared war as well as incited Ashantis to attack Gas and Ewes while speaking on his Madina-based Oman Fm last Friday.

Kwame Baffoe, Brong Ahafo Regional Acting Coordinator for ‘Bumper To Bumper, an NPP affiliate group which declared an indefinite hunger strike Monday in connection with the MP’s arrest, told DAILY GUIDE in Sunyani he has directed members of the group and NPP supporters across the region to eat because justice has finally prevailed.

Mr. Baffoe took a swipe at President Mills for masterminding the arrest of the vocal MP who exposed the gargantuan corruption in government with his exposé of the GH¢52m Woyome judgment debt scandal.

According to him, the illegal arrest and detention of the Assin North MP was a clear demonstration of the selective justice which has characterized the Mills administration and an attempt to unduly punish the MP for exposing the rot in the government.
