Members of the Germany Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday conducted an internal election to indicate their choice as to which of the seven contestants becomes the flag bearer and leader of the party.

At the of the polls Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice emerged the winner with 99.5 percent of all the votes cast. Mr John Alan Kyeremanten, former Minister of Trade under the Kuffour Administration received 5 percent of the votes while the remaining contestants did get any vote.

In all NPP Germany has nine(9) local chapters and with the exception of Berlin, all the local chapters spread across the length and breadth of the Federal Republic of Germany voted massively in favour of Nana Akufo-Addo.

A breakdown of the voting pattern as follows

Aachen Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Keremanten 0%

Berlin Nana Akufo-Addo 95% Alan Kwadwo Keremanten 5%

Bremen Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten 0%

Cologne Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten 0%

Dortmund Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten 0%

Hamburg Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Keremanten 0%

Frankfurt Nanan Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten 0%

Saarland Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten 0%

Munich Nana Akufo-Addo 100% Alan Kwadwo Keremanten 0%

It should be pointed out that at its last congress in Dormund early this year, congress decided that all matters relating to the election of flagbearer SHALL be referred to members for discussion and determination. The rationale is to empower party members and also give them a sense of belonging and participation in the decision making process.

Thus, the internal elections that took place on Sunday is simply giving meaning and effect to the decision of congress which is the highest decision making body of our party.
