Anwiaso (Ash), Sept. 28, GNA - Professor John Evans Attah-Mills, Flag Bearer of National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asked the electorate to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in the December polls for its failure to keep faith with Ghanaians. He said President John Agyekum Kufuor and his Party did not deserve to be returned to power since it could not deliver on its electoral promises of bringing progress and making life more bearable and better for the people.

"They have only succeeded in worsening the conditions of the overwhelming majority whose lot now is misery, disappointment and disillusionment, he said.

Professor Mills was addressing separate rallies at Anwiaso in the Adansi Asokwa constituency and Obuasi at the start of his five-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on Monday.

Accompanied by Mr Daniel Ohene Agyekum, a National Executive Member; Mr Kwame Nti-Fordjour, Ashanti Regional Chairman, and other Regional Officers of the Party, the Flag Bearer had earlier made whistle stops at Bekwai, Akrokerri and Fomena where he addressed and introduced the party's parliamentary candidates to the people.

Professor Mills accused the Government of insensitivity and arrogance, saying, he found it amazing that they would "neither admit that things are bad nor accept their mistakes".

Professor Mills said the coming elections, however, offered Ghanaians a God-sent opportunity to end their suffering by voting the NDC back to power.

He promised to restore truth, integrity, humility and godliness into the governance of the country if given the mandate to become the President.

He advised the Party's supporters to remain firm and to display a high level of political maturity by staying clear of acts likely to trigger off confusion and violence.

Professor Mills said Ghana could not afford to travel the path of civil strife and carnage chosen by some countries in Africa.

Mr Agyekum said NDC would continue to demand justice for those slaughtered during the Dagbon crisis, adding: "The Ya-Na's killing is an important political issue and we will continue to talk about that until justice is done."

Mr Agyekum expressed optimism that the NDC would win at least 35 per cent of the popular votes in Ashanti Region in the December polls.
