Desperation appears to be setting in the camp of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as some of its members are adopting every means – fair or foul –to woo supporters for the party’s objective of recapturing power at the 2012 Presidential elections.
One of such foul means is using the social network “Face Book”, posturing as leading members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who have now joined the NPP, having realised it will win the 2012 elections.
Thomas Obeng Somuah, an NPP member, who resides in Pordenone, – Italy, has been unmasked as one of the imposters who are sending misleading messages to unsuspecting people. He bears the nickname “Dr. Asemdadaa”.
Posing as Madam Anita De-Sosoo, the National Women Organiser of the NDC, Thomas Somuah has sent several misleading messages to unsuspecting NDC members and sympathizers, urging them to join the NPP because Professor John Mills will not win the 2012 elections.
Thomas Obeng Somuah’s deceitful conduct was unearthed after the NDC Women’s Organizer noticed that somebody had created address on Face Book purporting to be her, and sending messages in her name, some of which claimed she had defected from the NDC to the NPP.
An investigation immediately was launched, leading to Somuah being identified as the imposter. Somuah was tricked to give the details of the address to the page as anita201115@yahoo.com with the password as josephine1, and the contact telephone number he could be reached on.
Some of the messages he sent read: “I’m no more with the NDC, thank you,” “can’t you see Nana Addo is winning? “Our founder is against Mills so it’s better we support the better side, NPP”, “join FONKER because Mills can never win the 2012 elections “, “it’s just that Enkoyie Koraa, our President is a mess, so I’ve changed my mind, I’ll vote for the NPP. Tell your friends to support the NPP”, “can’t you see our party is collapsing?
“I have already made up my mind, so tell your friends not to waste their votes on the visionless NDC”. Thomas Somuah hails from Konongo-Odumasi in the Ashanti Region; he was born on November 23, 1970, and works at AEG Electrolux in Pordenone- Italy.
It was also discovered that Somuah had created another Facebook account named ndcpropaganda@ymail.com. He is married to one Patience Boateng; the two have a son.
Before Somuah was found out, he had sent out messages to not less than 886 friends, including Anthony Abayifa Karbo, NPP National Youth Organizer and Isaac Agyekum.
Security operatives uncovered that he has been dealing with high-ranking executives within the NPP, including Ursula Owusu, Perry Okudjeto, Sammy Awuku, Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, Kwabena Boadu, Davis Opoku Ansah.
Others are Beatrice Bernice Boateng, Michael Wadie Owari, Fritz Baffour and Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw of the NDC. When The Herald reached Somuah, he said that he never got into the account of De-Sosoo on Facebook, to use her page to mislead anybody.
Conceding that he is an NPP sympathizer, he said that he was not a card-bearing member, and had no connection with any NPP leading member.
According to Somuah, he had also realised that somebody had hacked into his account on Facebook, and was using his page, and therefore, he was thinking of de-activating his account on the face book.
He told The Herald from his base in Italy, that he never gave out his phone, and that the number was on his personal page, claiming that he has nothing to do with the page.
He also claimed that he had informed his lawyers to take legal action
