A former Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Abirem, Charles Owiredu, has raised serious concerns about how an alleged Russian national linked to the filming of encounters with Ghanaian women was granted entry into the country.

Reacting to public outrage over the incident on February 12, 2026, Owiredu questioned the processes that allowed the individual to enter Ghana, insisting that proper immigration and security protocols must be accounted for.

Social media uproar as alleged Russian trends for luring Ghanaian women into filmed encounters

“As a former Deputy Foreign Minister and Ambassador, I can say with authority that no one enters Ghana without clearance. Who approved the visa? Was it issued in Moscow or in Accra? What checks were done?” he questioned on X.

Owiredu emphasised that the matter goes beyond individual misconduct and raises broader national security and governance concerns.

According to him, the key issue is whether due diligence was exercised before the visa was granted.

“The Foreign Affairs Minister and the Minister of Interior must explain. Our women deserve better,” he added.

He further suggested that if procedural lapses are identified, the responsible institutions must be held accountable to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The controversy follows reports that a Russian national allegedly approached Ghanaian women, engaged them under undisclosed circumstances, and later posted their intimate encounters on social media, sparking widespread condemnation and calls for swift action.

The alleged Russian creator reportedly runs active pages on TikTok and YouTube, where he posts summary-style videos of these encounters.

Social media users claim there are about 40 such videos involving Ghanaian women across these public platforms.

Beyond these public posts, he is said to operate a private subscription channel on Telegram. Access reportedly costs about 400 Russian Rubles, roughly $5 per month.
