The widow of the late NDC MP for Asawase has filed a complaint with the police for an investigation into an alleged assault on her by some members of the NPP.
Hajia Naana says a member of a delegation led by the Minister for Women and Children?s Affairs, Hajia Alima Mahama, who visited her to express their condolence, attacked her.
According to Hajia a verbal exchange between herself and the deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Patricia Appiah Adjei, resulted in a physical assault on her by persons she cannot identify.
The deputy Regional Minister denies that any such incident occurred.
But Hajia has filed a complaint with the Asawase police.
Regional Chairman of the NDC, Ntim Fudjuor, who accompanied the widow to the police, says the party is awaiting police investigation for the legal proceedings to start.
?She gave the name of honorable Minister for Women and Children?s Affairs Hajia Alima and the deputy Regional Minister Mrs Patricia Appiagyei and the MP for Oforikrom, I am waiting for sometime to get to the police as to who they are going to invite and when they are taking the case to court.? he said.
According to Mr. Fodjour a request for police protection for Hajia Naana was turned down without any tangible explanation.
The allegation of assault comes as both parties vie for the Asawase seat made vacant following the death of the NDC MP Dr. Gibril.
A by-election will be held on the 21st of this month.
