NPP Minority Group In Parliament On Keta Sea Project

Tue, 13 Jan 1998 Source: --

The NPP Parliamentary Minority Caucus on Works and Housing says there is nothing procedurally wrong with its new conference to draw the attention to the Public and that of the President to the alleged misapplication of more than three billion cedis for the demolition exercise of the Keta Sea Defence Project. This was contained in a statement issued in Accra by the Spokesman for the Caucus, Mr. Kwamena Bartels. The statement said at news conference they held last week at which the allegations were made, it was made clear that it was the NPP Caucus on Works and Housing which was making the claims and not the entire opposition parties in Parliament. It is however, noteworthy that the NPP Caucus on Works and Housing comprises the same members who constitute the Minority MPs on the Select Committee on Works and Housing. The statement said the people are entitled to know what the taxes they pay are used for. The Caucus will, therefore, call another news conference to draw the attention of the President to other scandals in the Ministry of Works and Housing. gri
