NPP National Congress

Fri, 28 Dec 2007 Source: mr. cnn

Ghanaians worldwide have now become aware of the results of the NPP National

Congress which ended with Allan "Cash" Kyerematen bravely conceding and

making Nana Akuffo Addo the winner and elected flagbearer of the NPP.

Allan "Cash" Kyerematen, according to many observers and delegates made a

great decision to concede for the party's sake. A second round would

have been worse for the number 8 candidate because delegates were tired and

wanted the whole congress to be over. A second round would have served as

a punishment to the delegates and that was not the best idea as it could

affect his political career.

Many delegates have been impressed and now tip him as the next

flagbearer

after Nana Addo. Some observers commented that the party was not for sale

and as its tradition focuses on the one who serves gets the recognition

for his/her tireless effort.

The results shocked many aspirants who had toured the entire country

campaigning three times and ended being disappointed. They had become

confident with high hopes of winning but got the shock of their lives.

Imagine having toured 230 constituencies, dealt with 2300 delegates and the

results became disappointing. Future aspirants would think very carefully if

they want to spend so much in campaigning and ended up losing heavily.

The outcome of the congress was a lesson that money does not guarantee a

win, only God makes Kings and Queens. After 30 years serving the NPP, Nana

Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo now becomes the flagbearer and leader of the party.

He is tipped to become the next President of the Republic of Ghana after the

2008 election.

We bring to you some of the interesting moments at the Congress worth

viewing.
