On Saturday September 25, 2004 delegates and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the US and Canada will gather in New York City to deliberate on the theme: ENSURING THE RIGHTS OF GHANAIANS ABROAD IN GHANA'S SOCIO-POLITICAL AFFAIRS.
According to Mr. Kofi Boateng, the General Secretary of NPP New York and host of the Congress, this will be a particularly important Congress because it will both assess the support of Ghanaians in North America for the NPP party in Ghana's December 2004 elections and evaluate critical issues of concern to the Ghana Diaspora. Elaborating further, Mr. Boateng states that a dynamic engagement must be found to better reflect the billion dollar-plus a year of no-interest and no-repayment investment that Ghanaians abroad represent. NPP North America, as representatives of Ghana's ruling party will seek an outcome from the Congress that will assist the current and future governments of Ghana to strengthen and be more productively involved with Ghanaians abroad.
The Congress will feature two ministers from Ghana, Foreign Minister, Hon. Nana Akuffo Addo and Minister of Regional Cooperation and NEPAD, Hon Kofi Konadu Apraku. A surprise guest may make an appearance. The registration fee is $40
