Tamale, Nov. 2, GNA - Mr Clifford Abdallah Braimah, Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic party (NPP) has expressed gratitude to the electorate and all contestants, who vied for various positions, for making the party's regional delegates' congress held last Saturday a successful one.

Mr Braimah, who retained his position as the regional secretary said the electorate and all the contestants, exercised their political maturity in last Saturday's elections, which various positions were contested for and won successfully without any problem. He has however, thanked the electorate for retaining him and others in various positions and indicated that the elected executives would not go to bed but would work harder to justify the confidence they had reposed in them.

He said the NPP was a formidable party, which believed in democracy and that the party would continue to win elections in the country, due to its developmental agenda.

Mr Braimah appealed to all those, who failed to win in the various positions and join hands in fighting for the good course of the party to win the 2008 elections, saying, "If you had won you would have expected us to help you but now that you have lost we are pleading with you to help us in the interest of the party". He also commended the Convention People's Party for also having had a successful delegates' congress, which Mr Albert Atutiga, an educationist was elected to replace the late Issah Mobila, as CPP's regional chairman.

He said the CPP and the NPP were becoming "Twin Brothers" and asked the new CPP chairman to ensure that politics in the region was played on a level playing field, so as not to create confusion in the region.
