Ghanaians will certainly witness another tape scandal similar to that of the cocaine barons few years ago that implicated the likes of “Tagor”.
This time, it is the NPP gurus who portrayed themselves as the smartest group of political assemblage in Ghana but were caught off-guard by the ingenuity of technology.
But this time round, Ghanaians are on the winning side as their plot to denigrate the Vice-President of the land is uncovered.
A tape recording picked up at a meeting location in Dzorwulu has revealed more than Ghanaians could imagine. The meeting which was to start at 7pm finally commenced 26 min late due to the delay of propaganda secretary to get at the venue on time.
The meeting supposedly a strategic meeting surprisingly was not attended by Nana Akuffo-Addo. And I put a challenge to the NPP executives to come up and deny to Ghanaians that it never happened and the audio recordings will be made public.
During this meeting, it was decided that due to the public criticism the National Chairman received when he recently labeled the Mahama-Amissah government as “Spare tyres” the NPP communication team should be quiet on NDC activities until after the NDC congress by which time they expect the NDC to endorse John Mahama as flagbeareer.
It was proposed and endorsed at the meeting that, the current Vice-President, Amissah-Arthur be projected by their media outlets so that “narrow minded’ NDC executives as they put it will join the fray and propel John Mahama to nominate Amissah-Arthur as his running mate.
Consequently, seven (7) pictures, 2 from school days showing amorous engagements of the Vice-President with the man claiming to be his lover were circulated. With these photos in the media, they believe Ghanaians’ abhorrence to homosexuality will make the Mahama-Amissah Arthur ticket unpopular with Ghanaians.
Our intelligence network has gathered that the pictures brought to the meeting by the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NPP are now in possession of Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
The strategic team also professed that, since John Mahama could not be blamed for the failures of Mills’ administration in totality, their campaign should also shift to the Ghanaian Christian principles and morals which to them, the current Vice-President is lacking due to his gay activities which the Ghanaians societal values despise. Dirty politics at display.
It was also mentioned that, Amissah-Arthur failed to control the depreciation of the cedi as Governor of the Bank of Ghana. He is also to be implicated in the judgment debt payment to Alfred Agbesi Woyome.
When a member of the strategic team suggested contingency plan in case John Mahama nominates a Running-mate other than Amissah-Arthur judging from the dissatisfaction and dissidence expressed by sections of the NDC leadership and foot-soldiers across the country for the choice of the unpopular Veep, three names came up strongly at the meeting as the likely alternatives for Amissah-Arthur.
Firstly, Hanna Tetteh Kpoda was mentioned by Jake Obetsebi Lamptey to be a very formidable candidate. He said, Hanna Kpoda will attract women votes as Ghanaian women could easily be convinced to have to elect the first ever female to the office of Vice-President.
He also stated that, Hanna Kpoda’s recent stance on BBC that Ghanaians should have key roles to play in foreign companies/establishments and businesses has endeared her to the average Ghanaian and could pose a serious problem to the fortunes of the NPP should she be chosen by John Mahama .
The next was the tough-talking but now quiet Dr.Ekow Spio- Garbrah. When his name came up at the meeting, a key executive member retorted that all should be done to prevent Spio-Garbrah lining-up with Mahama. He said, a Mahama-Spio ticket could mean doom for the NPP. He continued that, Spio is seen as an ally to Jerry Rawlings and if nominated to partner John Mahama could easily influence Rawlings to make a sudden you turn to the NDC campaign platform.
Jake, whose voice was dominant at the meeting said “As we have systemically tried to keep Rawlings far from the NDC campaign platform, all must be done through the media to keep Spio-Garbrah alienated from the race for Running-mate” He continued that, for NPP to win the election, they must continue to create the feud between Rawlings and the NDC leadership hence Spio-Garbrah must be prevented from a possible nomination. “I know him well, he will call on all Rawlings’ followers and other dissatisfied foot-soldiers across the country to unite even if Rawlings did not give approval, he is too tough” Jake continued.
A member suggested that, their media outlets should fallaciously link Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah to the newly formed NDP so as to create displeasure from the NDC leadership and sympathizers before the congress. This sophistic move is to be made early next week.
Then came the name of Sylvester Mensah. The NHIS boss was also mentioned and his potential of garnering the votes from the Ga and Ewe divide was highlighted. It was stated that, with the Rawlings factor affecting voter apathy in the NDC’s stronghold of Volta Region, a Mahama-Mensah ticket could boost voter confidence in the Volta and also the Ga- Adangbe.
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman was then charged to carry out an undercover investigation on the operations of the NHIS in order to incriminate Mr. Sylvester Mensah should he become the surprise choice of Mahama.
It was said at the meeting that, since Mr. Sylvester Mensah is quite outside the race, there is a surety that the running-mate of the NDC should definitely be from the Central Region thus one of Hanna Tetteh-Kpoda, Dr. Ekow Spio- Garbrah and Amissah- Arthur will be the running mate.
In this light, one member proposed that the final day campaign should be held in the Central Region in order to get endorsement from the region but others rejected. To the NPP strategic team, past elections have proven that the Central Region has the most swing voters and hence the proposition. It was also said at the meeting that they believe Bawunia will definitely split the votes of John Mahama in the North this time around as he has gained the needed exposure and popularity over the years.
However, there was an interesting twist to the meeting when a member proposed that Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agjapong, Member of Parliament of Assin North, be denied access to make speeches at the campaign platform a stand purported to have been taken by Akuffo-Addo at a previous meeting. This is believed to be due to the bad image he has carved for himself in recent times with his unguarded tribal comments and his alleged drug related activities. This brought several minutes of heated argument as some of his cronies rejected the decision.
When things turned to normalcy, Jake proposed an Alhaji Issaka Inusah style defection to the NDC in coming weeks. This is to afford the NPP campaign team the opportunity to keep track of the NDC campaign programs and activities. (Readers may recall that Alhaji Inusah, then a former campaign Manager of the NPP defected to the NDC to serve as a spy only to go back to the NPP after Kuffour won the election. This enabled the NPP in the 2000 campaign to get access to sensitive NDC campaign activities). What a masterpiece!
In order to erase any suspicions, Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey suggested a top political figure outside the ranks of the NPP .Consequently, someone considered a political drifter was called on phone and appointment was booked for a meeting. It is planned that, the would-be spy should entice the NDC leadership in order to get into the inner cycle and help execute an Alhaji Inusah-like secret operation.
It has been planned that, the fellow (name withheld) who is a son of a former President would consistently advocate for the choice of Amissah-Arthur in the media so us to compel the President to nominate him as Running-mate. This will satisfy their mission to lynch the Vice-President of our land for moral decadence, but only after his nominations as running mate. .
Ghanaians need to wonder how patriotic the NPP executives are to plot a syndicate to bring the Vice-President of our country to both public and international ridicule all for power.
More revelation will follow as the Election Watch Intelligence Network is working in earnest to get hold on how they were planning to disrupt the NDC congress in Kumasi which was not concluded as one member suggested the presence and briefing of the Ashanti Regional chairman before decisions could be taken.
It was evidently clear from the tape recording that, the NPP executives are more vested in the problems of the NDC than the NDC in itself. And it should be a wake-up call to the NDC leadership to face the realism and concede that election 2012 is a real ‘do or die’ for Akuffo – Addo and must rise up from their slumber with their dissident groups in order to thwart what I will term modern day subversion by the NPP.
