..SAMUEL AWUKU STARTS ATTACKS ON IGP
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is subtly laying the foundation to destabilize the country during the 2012 elections by turning their guns on the Police Service in an attempt to strip that security agency of all its credibility and trust before next year.
In pursuant of the ‘all-die-be-die’ agenda proclaimed by Nana Akufo-Addo, various members of the NPP have followed the proclamation of the NPP flagbearer in consistently making comments in support of election sadism by delicately tuning the mind of Ghanaians towards the bloodbath the party is planning to unleash if the opposition loses the elections.
The conspiracy shifted gear to its next step when Deputy Communications Director of the NPP Mr. Samuel Awuku, attempted to brand the Police Service as an institution incapable of providing the much needed security during the election by accusing the IGP of being a weak man.
Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme, Mr. Awuku vented his insolence on the Head of the Ghana Police Service, calling him a potential thief whose continued stay in office is a threat to internal security as the 2012 elections approaches.
The unbridled attack of Awuku on the IGP, Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye followed remarks by the Chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, a couple of weeks ago that Akans will visit Cote d’Ivoire to Ghana if during the elections they feel their mandate is being stolen.
The NPP chairman sought to create the impression that Akans sparked the war in neighbouring Cote d’Ivoire because they were not satisfied with the result of the elections and would do same in Ghana in 2012 if they are dissatisfied with the election results.
Before Jake’s advertisement of instability in next year’s election, NPP activist, Madame Ursula Owusu, also called on NPP apparachiks to arm and defend themselves because they cannot expect the police to provide security for them in 2012.
Ursula accused the police of siding with the ruling party and urged NPP followers to take the law into their own hands come 2012 to ensure that victory is declared in favour of Nana Akufo-Addo.
Sammy Awuku’s vile assault on the person and status of the IGP as head of the security agency with the largest number of personnel to be deployed during the election is an extension of the clandestine plan of the NPP to undermine and render the Police Service ineffective.
Though other security agencies provide personnel to maintain law and order during elections, the Ghana Police Service, the body mandated by law to perform such duty would primarily be responsible for providing internal security as the 2012 elections draw near.
An ineffective police force with demoralized personnel like the picture the NPP is trying to paint to Ghanaians would be a recipe for major instability.
And since in Africa election violence is always mostly blamed on incumbent governments, the NPP flagbearer and his henchmen believe they are in a comfortable zone from where they can instigate violence, especially if they succeed in crippling the police force.
