Former Kumasi Mayor Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been arrested by the Police for allegedly vandalizing electoral material at the polling centre for the New Patriotic Party (NPPs) primaries in the Asokwa constituency.

According to Saeed Ali Yakubu of Kumasi based Luv FM, the former Member of Parliament (MP) was handcuffed and taken away by the police after his action.

Saeed Yakub reports that Mr. Kofi Jumah also referred to as Kofi Ghana, had earlier come to the voting center, greeted delegates and left quietly.

His arch competitor and sitting MP, Madam Patricia Appiagyei’s appearance at the voting center was greeted with lots of merry making.

Tensions between the two former mayors have been rising since the current MP, affectionately known as Mama Pat dethroned Kofi Ghana in party primaries in 2011, before annexing the Asokwa seat in the 2012 general election.

As to whether or not that is what angered Kofi Ghana remains to be ascertained.
