The Assistant Secretary of the Tema East constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Daniel Titus Glover has been suspended indefinitely by the Executives of the constituency for "being vocal and exposing corruption at the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA)”.

Addressing a press conference at Tema on Wednesday to react to series of allegations levelled against him, Mr. Glover said last week, he received a letter signed by the Secretary, Mr. Kaleem S. Aliyu, accusing him of misconduct by divulging information to the press and also showing disrespect to the Executives including the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Minister of Fisheries, Mr. Ishmael Ashitey.

Mr. Glover, an incumbent assembly member for Ashiboi Electoral Area, who is seeking re-election, said he incurred the wrath of the Executives because he exposed an ongoing corruption. He was the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee of the Executive Committee of the TMA, which exposed the illegal award of contract of 1.2 billion cedis for the fumigation exercise at the final refuse dump. The Committee was said to have found that the contract was awarded without passing through the tender board.

He was also alleged to have exposed dealings regarding a computerisation system as well as the re-valuation of properties, costing millions of cedis. Government is investigating the Committee's findings.

Mr. Glover, who held a Quran and a Bible in his hands, maintained that he did nothing wrong adding that as a trade unionist he stood by the truth and would continue to expose corruption by some members of the ruling party till the right thing is done adding that, NPP members cannot preach zero tolerance and practice vices.

According to the letter suspending him, until Mr. Glover renders an apology, he should consider himself expelled from the Executive Committee of the NPP. But he said he would not apologise. He stated categorically that, “I will not leave the party today or tomorrow because I did not write an application before joining it”.
