... AND HIS NEW NPP NATIONAL EXECUTIVES FROM

The members of the NPP UK and Ireland branch have sent a message of good will and congratulations to Mr. Peter Macmanu, the new NPP national chairman and his new national executives on their election at the recent NPP Congress.

In a message signed on their behalf by their chairman Mr Atta-Krufi, the UK and Ireland branch welcomed the entire national executive committee into office and promised to work with them to deliver the 2008 elections.

The message went on to say ?you have all been elected into office at a very crucial time, where we face the challenges of a Party in government and towards the run up to the 2008 general elections. We will have to deliver that election ? that is our straight-forward task. This is a personal and collective challenge and no stone must be left unturned in achieving this noble objective. Ghana needs the NPP to remain in power if we are to bring the long-lasting development our country needs. History will judge us harshly if we do not fulfill this. Your mission therefore is to develop and implement a coherent plan for building an effective broad based party organisation and structure, based on inclusive leadership, vision and purpose. Our focus is to achieve growth within the Party and to harness our collective potential to position the NPP to deliver sustainable economic and social development for Ghanaians at home and abroad, making us the natural party of Government?.

On the Congress itself the message said that the NPP has once again demonstrated that it is the party of democracy and of choice and diversity.

?The Party must congratulate itself for electing four women on to the executives in line with the recognition of the importance of women in nation as well as party building. It goes to show that the NPP has once again demonstrated its ability to modernize itself and reflect the trend of modern Ghanaian society and has reiterated that the NPP is the party of choice, equality and diversity?.

The message urged the new chairman and his team to work assiduously to position the Party strategically to win the next election. It urged them to strengthen the existing party structures and communication lines to ensure that views held at the grassroots are communicated up to the party office and policy messages from the office also get to the grassroots effectively. ?The new chairman?s administration must continue with the party?s ethos on compassion and humility to the party faithful while not compromising the bigger picture of working even harder to deliver election victory in 2008 and beyond?, the message concluded.
