Richard Ahiagbah has expressed interest in contesting General Secretary position of the New Party
The Director of Communication for NPP Chicago Chapter and member of NPP-USA Communication team, Richard Ahiagbah, has made known his intention to contest the position of General Secretary for the governing New Patriotic Party.
Mr Ahiagbah who reigns from the Kpong Katamanso Constituency also served as the Diaspora Mobilization Coordinator prior to the 2016 general elections through whose efforts many Ghanaians in the diaspora were wooed to rally behind the NPP in its quest to win political power.
Speaking to Ghanaweb, he emphasized that the NPP which is the “greatest political traditions” is not being administered as such by the current national executives hence his decision to become the party’s General Secretary to introduce “a new ethos of service leadership”.
Top on the objective list of Mr Ahiagbah is to reorganize and decentralize the party with major focus on empowering and resourcing the grassroots.
“This reorganization will move the party from the current top-heavy structure to bottom-heavy, top-lean structure. To achieve the successive electoral victories that President Kufuor eloquently talked about, the NPP must embrace this new paradigm of grassroots empowerment”.
Mr Ahiagbah believes his leadership style would coheres a synergy towards establishing national party infrastructural development projects, explaining the projects would stem from the constituency, regional to nation level to form “an epic national superstructure, to serve as a memorial to our [NPP] tradition and heritage.”
With Ex President Kuffuor’s call for the use of technology to warrant an effective operation and efficiency of the party as a stimulus, Mr Ahiagbah promised to furnish all party constituency and regional offices with Information Communication Technology logistics in an attempt to enhance service delivery of executives.
He detailed that “am seeking to do more, with the endorsement of the party to become the next General Secretary to replace the current passive, reactive and out of touch regime with the vision of New Politics; complete with a plan to situate the NPP for 21st century opportunities, establish the NPP as the greatest and relevant philosophy for the attainment of the aspirations of our people.”
The astute communicator appended that if given the node, he would ensure the establishment of a national headquarters is inaugurated to commemorate the 75th and 30th anniversary celebrations of elephant fraternity’s tradition and the NPP respectively.
Mr Ahiagbah is ,therefore, pleading with delegates to endorse him to become the next General Secretary of the NPP for a more vibrant leadership.
