The coming days promises to be so interesting in the Central Region of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its First Vice-Chairman, Horace Ekow Ewusi, who has been suspended for grossly disrespecting his boss, has initiated a fight back to get him reinstated.

Among the series of activities aimed at achieving his aim is an alleged threat to sponsor a demonstration against the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, when he touches down in the Cape-Coast, on Thursday, July 25, 2019, to begin his three-day official tour to the Central Region.

The President is billed to begin his tour to the regions to interact with the Chiefs and people by first touching base at Western Region on Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

He is expected to immediately move the Central Region after cutting the sod for commencement of the Prestea Town Roads.

President Akufo-Addo while in the Central Region is expected to cut sod for the construction of a fish landing beach at Moree following which he will attend Durbars with the Chiefs and people including the fishing communities.

He returns to Accra on Saturday, July 27, 2019 after the Panafest festivities at the Cape-Coast Stadium.

People very close the disgruntled Vice-Chairman say Mr. Ewusi will leave no stone unturned in getting the President to hear and order for his reinstatement since he had done no wrong.

Intelligence picked from Central Region has confirmed that a well-planned sponsored demonstration against the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is in the pipeline when he (President Akufo-Addo) touches down in Cape-Coast to begin his official tour to the region.

It is not clear whether the same group that was sponsored to travel all the way from Agona West Constituency to the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, last week to demand for the removal of Mr. Robert Kutin Jnr, will be staging the demonstration.

Fight over cash for demo

An audio recording which has been intercepted by this paper suggest that the group is sharply divided as some members feel that money dished out for the Accra demo exercise did not trickle down as it ended up in the pockets of some constituency chairmen who played a key role in bringing them together for the said exercise.

One of the coordinators of the Accra demonstration is heard asking another party faithful believed to be one of the coordinators as to how much was given to each member of the group that participated in the exercise as some were accusing him of giving them GH?20.00 instead of GH?50.00.

In response, the man said an amount of GH?20.00 was allocated to each member of the group and not GH?50.00 as is being speculated in the constituency.

The aggrieved man who could not bear the brunt of the feuding supporters said he is being accused wrongly since the information has been on the constituency’s platform where members are lambasting him left and right for not giving them GH?50.00 each as they were told.

Next on the agenda after the demonstration exercise is to smear some bigwigs in the party in the region whom he suspects are behind his woes and subsequent suspension from the party.

Inside sources say, the likes of the Regional, Robert Kutin Jnr, Naana Eyiah, Minister for Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Minister for Special Development Initiatives and MP for Awutu Senya East constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and MP for Agona West constituency, Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison, MP for Gomoa East constituency, Hon. Kojo Asomani, MP for Assin South constituency, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour and the Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, will in the coming days come under Ekow Ewusi’s allegedly sponsored attacks in the media as pay-back time.

He is said to have allegedly vowed to ensure the exit of all the MPs among the list and replace them with his favourite candidates in the upcoming NPP primaries whether he is reinstated as First-Vice Chairman of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition in the Central Region.

Already, series of media attacks have been launched on the regional Chairman, Mr. Kutin Jnr, in what appears to be allegedly instigated by his vice, in a loan facility he assessed from the National Investment Bank (NIB) about four years ago of which he is in the process of servicing it.

More of such allegedly sponsored attacks are to follow in the coming days.

Suspension

The embattled Ekow Ewusi was last week suspended from the NPP and referred to the party’s disciplinary committee in the Central Region for further investigations.

This follows his deliberate moves at ignoring directives from the party hierarchy in the region to respond to allegations of fraud by false pretense, jail break and auctioning and pocketing proceeds of excavators seized from illegal miners in a petition filed against him by one Edward Kraku Adum, also a party member.

Suit

Ekow Ewusi has since sued the petitioner, Adum, demanding GH?1million in damages for defaming his character.
