Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been advised not to take power won by the party for granted but to close their ranks and sustain the authority vested in the party.
According to Lord Commey, the National Organiser of the party, it took the NPP 30 years to regain power and it would be doomed forever if steps are not taken to sustain the party’s current position.
He was speaking at separate meetings with NPP polling station chairmen and executives of the Abuakwa, Atiwa and Fanteakwa constituencies as part of a weeklong tour of the Eastern Region.
Mr Commey asked members to intensify their membership drive to win more people for the party to enable it to retain power in the 2004 Elections. He said the NPP had no founder and, therefore, appealed to party members to collectively move the party forward.
Mr Commey noted that the progress of the party depended on how efficient members worked and asked them to desist from petty squabbles and unite and establish formidable structures in the constituencies.
