In an unprecedented arrangement and in pursuit of its acknowledged ethnic hegemony political agenda, Kufuor’s Government has entered into a “secret” deal with the World Bank for a loan of US $5m for the Asanteman Traditional Council and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council.
Secret, because the “deal” is not known to Parliament and, according to the GHANA PALAVER intelligence sources, did not pass through Cabinet. It was worked out between President Kufuor and the Ashanti/Akyem cabal in the government, apparently to try and heal the schism that developed between the two cliques ever since the NPP came into power.
