NPP Youth League Reacts To Ex-President's Pronouncements

The New Patriotic Youth League (NYPL), on Wednesday cautioned the security agencies not to be misled by attempts by the Former President, Jerry John Rawlings to downplay the alleged subversive Statements he made against the government.

A press statement signed by the Secretary of the NYPL, Mr Alex Quartey in Accra said Former President Rawlings "has the infamous record of restoring constitutional rule only to dismantle it”. He has done it before and can do it again and that, "Power hungry Jerry Rawlings, clearly under siege by probity and accountability, is clearly looking for an opportunity to strike. We Caution the government and Ghanaians against taking his assurances seriously”.

The statement said the threats of injury and death against journalists; the mad rush to mischievously pronounce on issues without the necessary checks, the propagation of clear lies, the upsurge in armed robbery, the strange outbreak of fire at the Makola market at the time of the confusion over Rawlings' subversive effusions are carbon copy tactics of Adolf Hitler's terrorist actions that preceded his seizure of power that ushered in the Third Reich.
