NPP Youth Wing Vandalizes Office - Destroys Kufuor's Potrait

Winneba, March 22 - The Youth Wing of the Effutu constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) last Friday vandalized the party's constituency offices at Minneba, locked the offices and took the keys away.
The action was in protest against what members of the wing described as, "the imposition of one Mr Ernest Kufuor Yamoah on members of the Effutu constituency branch of the party's parliamentary candidate for the next December general election.
Members of the wing, who stormed the constituency offices destroyed a number of office equipment, including the portrait of President John Agyekum Kufuor, and blamed the national chairman of the party, Mr Haruna Esseku and his Central Regional counterpart, Dr David Kweku Ghartey for the drastic measures meted out to the constituency officers by the youth wing.
The aggrieved youth maintained that until the national executives nullify the recent alleged fraudulent primaries, which declared Ernest Kufuor (nephew of President Kufuor) winner, and subsequently declare Dr Oheneba Akwaesi Acheampong who contested Mr Kufuor unopposed for the forthcoming general elections, they would never release the keys to the constituency offices to the leaders of the party.
In related development, a group of concerned party members in Winneba in a statement, also accused Mr Haruna Esseku, the NPP national chairman and Dr Kweku Ghartey, Central regional chairman for being the major contributory factors to the current impasse among the rank and file of the party in the Effutu constituency.
The statement warned that any attempt by the national leaders to force Mr Ernest Kufuor on the people would definitely spell doom for the party in the Effutu constituency.
It maintained that Dr Oheneba Acheampong now stands a chance for the NPP to wrest the Effutu constituency seat from the NDC if he is given the opportunity to contest for the third time.
The statement strongly appealed to President Kufuor to put his feet down to salvage the image of the party and his own image as far as the alleged imposition of Mr Ernest Kufuor on the people was concerned.
