Daniel Okyem-Aboagye aka ‘Wofa Atta’, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Bantama Constituency, has stated categorically that he will not indulge in any illegality to destroy his chance of winning the seat.

He said machinations by his detractors, who have accused him of holding US citizenship, cannot prevent him from helping the NPP to increase its votes in Bantama on December 7.

According to him, it is only God, who created him, that cannot stop him from retaining the Bantama seat for the NPP, saying that “no human being can stop me from becoming the next NPP MP for the great Bantama Constituency during the upcoming polls.”

He disclosed this at a mammoth press conference which was held at the forecourt of the NPP office in Bantama Constituency on Tuesday morning.

The aspirant denied all the allegations that had been leveled against him to dent his image in recent times.

Voter’s ID Card

The NPP parliamentary candidate, who was flanked by NPP executives in the constituency, produced his Voters ID Card, US Green Card, his three Ghanaian passports and all other relevant documents to the media to buttress his point.

Allegations

Wofa Atta stated that even though he lived, schooled and worked in the US in the past, he did not sell my birthright.

“I have travelled to over 20 countries across the globe and I have realized that Ghana my motherland is the best country.”

He entreated NPP supporters across the country, especially at Bantama and his loyalists, to disregard the reports that he (Okyem Aboagye) is not qualified to contest for the Bantama seat.

According to him, he holds a US Green Card which allows him to travel to the US, saying “I don’t vote in America, I only vote in Ghana which is my country.”

Wofa Atta stated that his three Ghanaian passports, which he presented to the press conference, should once and for all stop the hullabaloo over his nationality, which is being fuelled by his detractors.

He also denied reports that he holds two Voter ID Cards and can therefore not contest for the Bantama seat during the upcoming polls.

“I am too wise to bear two voter ID cards, which is a criminal offence punishable by law.”

He said allegations that he owns the famous DKM micro finance company which had duped several Ghanaians was false, stating that his financial company was genuinely making giant strides in the financial sector.

Kufuor’s Blessings

He disclosed that he started to nurse the ambition of representing the people of Bantama as far back as 1994 when ex-President Kufuor, who had visited Bantama then blessed him after the party’s chairman Jeocad had introduced him.

Kwabena Kokofu

Wofa Atta admonished the NPP members at Bantama not to insult the party’s sitting MP, Hon. Kwabena Kokofu, saying that “he had played a huge role in transforming the party in this constituency.”

According to him, Hon. Kokofu, led the party at Bantama as chairman for two terms and MP for a term, noting that “he did a good job and I promise to continue from where my senior brother has left off. If the party is strong and attractive now, then Hon. Kokofu too deserves a huge credit.”

Unity

Wofa Atta implored the teeming supporters of the NPP at Bantama to unite as one family and bury their differences, adding that the party must remain focus, united and work hard to win the elections.
