NPP chairman praises MP aspirant-elect

Nkoranza (B/A), May 16 GNA - Mr Kwasi Adu-Gyan, Brong-Ahafo Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party on Friday said, the ministerial appointment conferred on Mr Kwame Amporfo-Twumasi, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South was an indication that he is a good material".

He, therefore, urged electorate in the Constituency to vote massively for him in the December 7, 2008 election in order to use his rich experience and knowledge to accelerate the development of the area. Mr Adu-Gyan was addressing delegates and supporters of the NPP in the Constituency at a rally at Nkoranza to announce the election of Mr Amporfo-Twumasi who won the primary by a popular acclamation.

Mr Adu-Gyan stressed the need for the party executives to unite members and guard against petty squabbles, internal wrangling and all form of negative behaviours that could affect the party fortunes. The Regional Chairman urged the Constituency executives not to be complacent but rather, regard this year's elections as crucial because the opposition parties were bent on wrestling power from the NPP.

Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Regional Minister, commended the delegates for retaining Mr Amporfo-Twumasi, the incumbent MP as their candidate.

He thanked the people of Nkoranza for their support for the NPP and advised those who do not have voters ID card to register when the voters' register opens some time in May to enable them to exercise their franchise.

Madam Felicia Adomah, Regional Women's Organiser called on the women's wing to reach out to the people at their door-steps and educate them on the good policies of the government to woo them to the party for a landslide victory.

She urged the women's wing to be wary of the opposition parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress, the main opposition party. Mr Amporfo-Twumasi thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and appealed to the youth of the party to be extra cautious and guard against insults in their electioneering campaigns. Mr James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, implored members to unite and work hard towards an overwhelming victory in December.
