The New Patriotic Party has condemned claims by Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Sammy Gyamfi, that government’s endorsement of CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, enhanced his activities.

According to the NPP, Sammy Gyamfi only ‘heaped political lies’ on the entire citizenry when a video of him lauding activities of the estranged gold dealing firm surfaced.

The NDC, at a press conference earlier on Wednesday, blamed the Akufo-Addo-led government for misleading many Ghanaians into investing in the company.

Sammy Gyamfi further explained only a handful of the public would have invested in Menzgold if not for the photographs of the President and NAM1 circulating on social media and other news media platforms.

“The Menzgold problem is largely the creation of Nana Akufo-Addo government. This is because the many overt acts of endorsement and advertisement of Menzgold and its CEO Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM1 by the president and his appointees are inextricably linked to the present predicament of Menzgold customers.” He indicated.

Referring to claims by Sammy Gyamfi as ‘twisted’ logic, the NPP played a video in which Sammy Gyamfi was seen applauding the CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, for his gold investment firm initiative.

He was heard chastising government for attempting to close down the company rather than supporting the businessman.

“You’ve heard them. When they are comfortable, they say one thing. And today, this is the twisted logic of the man who spoke saying government didn’t act. When government acted, when Menzgold was warned, this man sat in a radio studio which has international audience, and traduced government.” Director of Communications of the NPP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah lamented.

Buabeng Asamoah went on to say Sammy Gyamfi claimed Menzgold even did better than government in terms of creating employment for Ghanaians as well as creating profit for the citizens.

Questioning the motive behind Sammy Gyamfi’s accusations, Asamoah posited, “He didn’t talk about state, he didn’t talk about president, he didn’t talk about regulatory agencies. He was busy heaping praise on Menzgold and NAM1”.
