NPP elders will soon summon Ken Agyapong – Nana Akomea

The former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2012 election campaign, Nana Akomea, has hinted that the Member of Parliament of Assin Central will soon be summoned before the Council of Elders of the party.

According to him, “…if people are making those kinds of statements that intend to put the party in disrepute, against the principles of the party’s constitution, they should be called. If Mr. Ken Agyapong has not been called yet, he may be called”.

Nana Akomea further explained that Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who is representing the people of Assin Central could also be queried by the minority leadership of parliament for his unsavory comments about the National Executives of the party.

He made this submission on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme whiles discussing a summon issued by the Council of Elders of the NPP to Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku.

In Wednesday December 18, 2013 edition of the Daily Guide, it stated that Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a presidential hopeful has been summoned before the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over his recent scathing comments about the party.

According to the paper, the invitation per reliable sources at the party's Asylum Down headquarters has been extended to him for his recent comments which have generated heated controversy within the NPP.

At a forum organized by the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of the NPP in Kumasi, Dr. Apraku asked party supporters to elect what he called ‘a right leader’ to ensure victory in the 2016 elections.

However, questions have arisen as to why Hon. Ken Agyapong who described the entire NPP leadership as thieves and corrupt has not been invited, as many see his statement more grievous and damning to the party and therefore equally warrants a subpoena before the Council of Elders of the party.

There are those who are of the view that failure to query the Assin Central MP would mean he is “untouchable” and make the NPP leadership come across as bias.

But the former Communications Director of the NPP believes Kennedy Agyapong would be called to answer for his unsavory utterances.
